Ok, bear with me, I am going to geek out. These are an example of diffused, indirect lighting with an ambient focus. A little softer, a little warmer. With the diffused lighting, you pick up more of the details in my skin tone and shadows, wherein the bright light, those details get flattened or washed out with the higher exposure. In this set, I like the first photo.
