📝 Interview's Time—— I have a friend that is a crane operato..

📝 Interview's Time—— I have a friend that is a crane operator, he travels the world & operates these huge cranes. I find it fascinating and thought you might enjoy learning about working with these huge cranes. Thank you to my friend for giving me your time to share with everyone. 💋 —What is your favorite thing among your job? My favorite thing about my job is traveling to different parts of the world. When you go somewhere and work you find out what a country and the people are like. It’s definitely very different from going somewhere on vacation. —What is the least favorite thing about your job? The least favorite thing is being gone so much of the time. Unfortunately life doesn’t stop when you are away. —Where was the most exotic locating you have worked at? It would be hard to pick most exotic. I have been all over the Caribbean. I have worked in India more than anywhere else. Southeast Asia has probably been my favorite place. —What is something about Dubai that people don't know? Is the reputation of wealth justified? Something most people don’t know is that over 80% of the population of UAE are all foreign workers. The reputation of the wealth is definitely justified. Seeing so many exotic cars on the roads is pretty wild. —How do you handle breaks? My breaks are great. I have a decent sized piece of land and I enjoy working on it when I am home. I also love being home and enjoying our awesome food. That is something everyone misses when we are away is good food. —If I can be naughty, what position would be best to be in the crane high club? The best position for fun in the crane would be you sitting on my lap facing forward. I have done this a couple of times. Its pretty fun! —What was your scariest experience in a crane? The scariest thing for me was when I was much younger. We were picking a tree up that had fallen on a house. When they make the cut you can have it. The tree was way heavier than they estimated and once it’s cut it’s yours. Nothing bad happened but the crane was so close to the limit. I was glad to get that piece on the ground. —What is something that people don't know about being a crane operator? It just depends on the project for how long we are there. Sometimes it’s only one or two lifts. You spend so much more time building and dismantling the crane. Our rotation varies from 8 to 14 weeks and then home time is usually 2 to 4 weeks off. Most people just see a crane operator sitting in cab and it looks easy. There is so much like building and dismantling the crane, also maintaining the crane.
