Well today makes 5 whole years without alcohol. There are many things I have learned on this journey. Here are a few things: You are not stuck. If you donโt like something, change it you have the power here. Not drinking is not the end goal, itโs the foundation for all other things you want to do. It's hard to function on a cloudy booze brain. Not drinking makes you more calm and able to address other things in your life that are a problem. You worth isn't measured by how many days sober you have. No one is perfect so stop trying to be everything to everyone. The way you feel when you first quit drinking won't last long. But the feelings are big and hard to handle newly sober but you won't spend the rest of your life wanting a drink I promise. If you feel like you want to drink at some point itโs not the end of the world (and it doesnโt mean that youโre going to drink). Itโs an SOS telling you that something needs to change. There is a boundary that you need to draw, there are adjustments that need to be made... keep your triggers in mind. It's never a bad decision to quit drinking don't over think it just take it off your table. Mostly I have learned to love myself and my life and not how to escape it.
