There was a time when I warmed up squatting 315 lbs. and I did stiff-legged deadlifts with 315 lbs (3 45 lb plates on each side of a bar). With age and injury, I find myself restricted in some of the exercises I do and I use lighter and lighter weights as well, incorporating super-sets and other techniques to get “burn!” I’ve complained about front squats before, but they work as an alternative. Similarly with “stiffies,” I do more reps with lighter weight, and trust me…they burn! Just because you can’t train the way you did 20 or 30 years ago doesn’t mean you have to stop. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times—I don’t work out, I work around! #youllthankmewhenyoure60 #neverskiplegday
