But right now isn't the time to be completely disconnected. We have to stay aware of the world outside. Shots are getting fired in Louisville, protestors are trapped by police in downtown Chicago, Minneapolis is burning. Black lives matter. People are more important than property. Try to keep this in perspective. Damaging property is not an ideal situation, but angry people act out of rage and sometimes that behavior is a little unpredictable. LGBTQ rights began with riots. Folks who feel left out and unheard or feel like they have tried everything they can will go to extreme measures and unfortunately sometimes that is what gets things to change. If your knee-jerk reaction is to think about property damage and how terrible that is, I invite you to allow those thoughts. And then spend another equal amount of time thinking about the injustices that provoke those acts. And think about why one jumps to mind before the other. Self reflection is really important right now. I appreciate your support.
