August 27, 2016 is the day that my life changed forever. I was arrested and charged with a plethora of felonies. I expected to stay incarcerated for a very, very long time. Having already been to prison twice before, I was ready and willing to accept the sentence. But I also made a very clear and firm decision that I was going to stop trying to control my life, I was going to do everything in my power that I possibly could in order to heal the parts of myself that could not let go of heroin. I began that healing process in jaîl. And here I am, 6 years later. No more drugs or alcohol, no prison, no more parole. Being a person in recovery is who I strive to be for the rest of my life. I will always be healing parts of myself and growing in new ways. I have so many wonderful people surrounding me who have stood in my corner and support me in such loving ways. Ways I’ve never experienced love. I’m so happy and so grateful and so excited to continue experiencing these different parts of life as time moves forward. I love you all 🖤
